Press Release Body = New Jersey, NJ: Route 22 Honda, your Honda dealer in New Jersey presents the 2006 Honda Civic. The Civic has been awarded the 'Car of the Year'; test-drive the Civic and you will know why.
The bold new exterior design of the 2006 Honda Civic is much more attractive and expressive than the previous model. It is also slightly bigger and heavier than the model it replaces. Under the hood is a lineup of new four-cylinder engines, ranging from a 140-hp, 1.8-liter unit to a 197-hp, 2.0-liter engine used in the Si performance trim level. Honda also offers the Civic with natural gas-fueled and hybrid powertrains.
\"For 2006, the Civic underwent the most radical transformation in its 33-year history,\" said a statement from John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda. \"It is a cornerstone of the Honda lineup, and we\'re delighted that Motor Trend has recognized ... the new Civic. Customers have validated our direction, too, as evidenced by strong sales of the new model.\"
The 2006 Civic marks the introduction of Honda\'s new Active Head Restraint front seat design that enhances the seat\'s ability to minimize the potential for neck injuries caused by rear end collisions. In the event of a rear collision, a person\'s body is pushed against the seatback.
The all-new 2006 Honda Civic line has won awards usually reserved for brand-new cars, not for a makeover of a 33-year-old model. But winning Motor Trend Car of the Year, plus the North American Car of the Year award proves the Civic a steady winner. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) announced that the 2006 Honda Civic has achieved the Institute\'s new \"Top Safety Pick - Gold\" award, displaying its top notch safety. For 2006, there are no fewer than four Civic models, two coupes and two sedans; DX coupe ($14,360), DX sedan ($14,560), LX coupe ($16,310), LX sedan ($16,510) EX coupe & Sedan ($18,260) and Si coupe. Three of the coupes and three of the sedans, the DX, the LX and the EX models, share a 140-horsepower, 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder with a standard five-speed manual transmission and an optional five-speed automatic ($800). A performance-oriented coupe, the Si, comes with a 197-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-4 fitted with a six-speed manual. The Hybrid sedan ($21,850) has a 1.3-liter four-cylinder coupled with a permanent magnet electric motor and a continuously variable transmission. Call for a free test-drive today!
